Government Departments Loose More Data

POLICE have confirmed that an assessment has been carried out into the costs of the loss of data by HMRC in 2007 but despite freedom of information legislation nobody seems to be able to comment on an actual figure.

Meanwhile the MoD have officially admitted that over 650 laptops and over 120 USB drives have been reported lost since 2004, although did not estimate the number of classified documents lost.

Clearly even organizations that have budgets allocated to data protection and loss prevention can't comply fully with the Data Protection Act, so what chance has commercial businesses got?

At Polar, we believe that a combination of people, process and technology, data loss risks can be substantially reduced - without huge costs.
